THE
City of Invercargill Caledonian Pipe Band will combine
with the City of Dunedin Pipe Band twice in the next two
weeks to perform the display designed for the Edinburgh
Military Tattoo earlier this year.
Drum major Neale Smith said the band performed at the
Edinburgh Tattoo 23 times but still had more Tattoo commitments
to meet.
Five members travelled to Christchurch at the weekend
to perform items from the Pipin ' Hot concert with Invercargill
singers Jason Schmidt and Shannon Cooper-Garland.
The Dunedin Tattoo will be held this weekend and the following
weekend the band will combine with the other pipe bands
from Southland for the Celebration of Southland Tattoo
at Homestead Stadium.
Intertwined with those commitments is the start of the
new contest season.
The Tattoo in Dunedin would be the first time the display
designed
especially for the Edinburgh Tattoo had been performed
publicly in New Zealand, Mr Smith said.
The Dunedin band would travel to Invercargill the following
weekend so Southland audiences could also see the display
first hand, he said.
